Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence is testing the waters in hopes of running for New York Lieutenant Governor.
The Town Supervisor, who ran on both the Democratic and Republican lines last November—beating out Preserve Ramapo candidate Bruce Levine for a fourth term—is now focusing his sites on the number two slot in Albany.
St. Lawrence sent this letter to all Democratic state committee members, members of the State Assembly and State Senate and all local elected officials across the state.
In his missive, St. Lawrence said:
We need leaders who will reform Albany and breathe new life into New York.
St. Lawrence masquerading as a candidate of reform is the greatest political irony of 2010 so far, considering his backroom deals, inexplicable silence on important town matters, dubious collegiate resume, and shady dealings evidenced from the Preserve Ramapo Web site.
St. Lawrence continues (and please contain yourself from punching out your computer screen):
[We need] people who can extricate the state from the financial crisis that has befallen us. People who will save taxpayer dollars by streamlining government and making it more efficient. People who will ameliorate the crushing property tax burden we face. People who will champion open and honest government and make it more accessible and accountable to the public.
St. Lawrence is doing nothing more than trying to take advantage of the grassroots reform movement taking place across New York. In Rockland and Ramapo, he is the establishment politician; even St. Lawrence's allies must admit to that. For St. Lawrence to position himself as some sort of champion of reform is just making a mockery of the reform movement sweeping the State.

He clearly is delusional and has a distorted view of himself. G-d only knows why he exhibits such behavior. He has single handedly caused a rise in anti-semitism in this Town, of which I and other long time Ramapo residents have experienced. Regardless of the outcome his legacy in Ramapo will be one of destruction and incitefulness. In my opinion how could Cuomo consider someone that has so much "history" that could be potential baggage? Interestingly enough, if he does succeed he gets to pick his replacement. Could it be Mr. Karben? Just a thought. Sad.
St. Lawrence will never pass the vetting process. For starters, he'd never get past the ridicule of once claiming he had two degrees from Harvard, and second, if you look at the developers and vendors who back him, it becomes immediately evident who he supports.
Oh yes, preserve ramapo says so, so it must be true. Of course, there is some elements of truth, but did it occur to you that preserve ramapo is rather bias and possibly not the best source to cite. It's easy, though.
It's very obvious that St. Lawrence embellished his college resume. One does not need Preserve Ramapo to tell you that. Regardless, as someone said on here, Christopher St. Lawrence would never pass the vetting process needed to become Lt. Governor.
It's my understanding that St. Lawrence actually has his eyes on the State Senate race and was using this "run" to test the waters.
Having lived in the town of Ramapo for 17 1/2 years, I experienced first-hand the kind of person St.L. is.
Many people do know who St. L. is and the underhanded dealings he has accomplished both as a citizen and as Town Supervisor. He may fool the town of Ramapo often but heaven help NYS if he manages to pull the wool over all those eyes, too. Then again, NYS government is the joke of the rest of the country.
I do not belong to Preserve Ramapo. I'm an independent citizen who has enough connections to see what he has gotten away with. I've also attended enough of his town hall meetings to see and hear who his constituents really are.
Please, please, please don't fall prey to this pompous a*s.
