Video: NYPD and FDNY raid Zuccotti Park, seizing generators and fuel

Generators help power the OWS kitchen
The New York City Police Department, along with the New York City Fire Department raided Zuccotti Park this morning, seizing generators and diesel fuel used by protesters to power the kitchen and media center.

Under the guise of protecting protesters and the park from possible fires, they are trying to disable the encampment, which will need more power as the nights become longer and colder. There was no arrests or violence, but protesters were visibly upset by this setback and the atmosphere during the raid was tense.

Observers said that about 30 fire inspectors sniffed the contents of bottles and jugs and took away those that contained fuel. In all, six generators were removed and 13 gallons of gasoline, according to Mayor Bloomberg's office. For their part, some protesters insist that they are only using biodiesel for fuel.

Recently, tents have gone up in the park to help keep protesters warm while resting and sleeping. According to the Mayor's office, Brookfield Properties, the owners of the park, have not complained about the tents.

Below is a video of the police and fire departments raiding the park this morning:

I think that they overreacted to the situation and it doesn't make things better. People will get upset about it.
